Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026

This policy explains what information Funua (funua.co.ke) handles when you visit, share a secret or leave a comment, and how we protect it. We have designed Funua to collect as little as possible about you.

1. What we collect

  • What you choose to post: the text of your secret or comment, an optional nickname, the category and type you pick, and any image you attach.
  • Images: before an image is stored we re-encode it, which removes embedded metadata such as GPS location, camera model and the date taken, and we give the file a random name.
  • Contact messages: anything you type in the contact form, including an email address if you choose to provide one.

2. What we do not collect

  • We do not require accounts, names, emails or phone numbers to post or comment.
  • Funua does not save your IP address or browser details alongside your posts or comments.
  • We do not sell or rent any information to anyone.

3. Anti-spam measures

To stop spam and abuse, we create a short-lived, one-way scrambled code (a salted hash) from your connection. It is used only to slow down repeated posting, reactions and reports, and it expires automatically, usually within minutes and at most after 30 days. It cannot be turned back into your IP address.

4. Cookies and local storage

Funua stores small pieces of information in your own browser: whether you have confirmed you are 18 or older (for the Intimate section) and which posts you have reacted to. These never leave your device. Our hosting provider and any embedded services (such as web fonts) may also process technical data such as your IP address in their server logs.

5. How anonymous are you, really?

We work hard to protect your identity, but no website can promise perfect anonymity. What you write can identify you if it contains specific details. Your internet provider can see that you visited this site. If we receive a valid court order under Kenyan law we may be required to hand over whatever limited information we hold. Avoid sharing details that point back to you.

6. Moderation

Posts are published immediately and are reviewed by our moderators afterwards. Posts that contain phone numbers, emails, links or social media handles are held for review first. We may edit or remove any post or comment that breaks our Community Rules.

7. Removal and your rights

Because posts are not linked to an account, we cannot always verify who wrote a post. If you want your post removed, or a post reveals information about you, use our contact form with a link to the post. Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you.

8. Age

Funua is intended for people aged 18 and over. The Intimate section is strictly for adults.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
